Electric Chevrolet Equinox Confirmed
Recently, the president of General Motors, Mark Reuss revealed that the Chevrolet Equinox will be going electric by 2025. Chevrolet will be focusing on the electric Silverado 1500 at first but will then move to the Equinox. Not all that much information has been revealed other than the fact that the Equinox will be going electric at some point before 2025. But it is an exciting development. The rumor is that the electric Chevrolet Equinox will have a starting price point around $30,000. For reference the current gas powered Equinox starts right around $25,000. So there is a decent sized price jump. But the savings over time with not having to use gasoline would balance out.
The Chevrolet Equinox is Chevrolet’s second best selling vehicle behind the Silverado 1500. So it makes sense to start with your most popular model and work down form there. Reuss also revealed that the Chevrolet Blazer will be going electric at some point. But he did says something interesting about the Blazer. Reuss stated that the Blazer would be an” affordable, high volume model.” This is interesting because the Blazer is currently the sporty and more expensive mid-size SUV that Chevrolet offers. The Blazer is more expensive than the Equinox currently so it makes you wonder what they have in store for the Blazer when it makes the transition to electric.
The transition to all electric vehicles is going to be very interesting no matter what manufacturer is doing it. It is a very new concept that no one has really gotten right to this point. You could argue the Tesla has done the best so far. We will have to wait an see what the big manufactures end up doing. Stay tuned for more updates.
2023 Chevrolet Silverado ZR2 Unveiled
Yesterday, General Motors finally unveiled the new 2022 Chevrolet Silverado ZR2. This will be the most off road capable truck that Chevrolet has made. When General Motors put out a teaser video a few months ago, a lot of people where hoping that this would be General Motor’s response to the Ford Raptor and the Ram TRX. The 2022 Chevrolet Silverado ZR2 will not have anywhere near the power of those trucks but will still be very capable off road. We do not know everything about the ZR2 yet but from the looks of it, it is going to be a very popular truck.
It will be equipped with 420 HP and comes stock with 33 inch tires. It will have an upgraded suspension system that will be able to handle off road terrain. The suspension is said to have components of Baja trucks. A Baja truck is a truck that races on a dirt track at right rates of speed. That suspension has to be able to handle jumps and things like that. Now, we aren’t sure how capable the suspension is going to be just yet, so we would not recommend jumping the truck just yet.
The interior of the Silverado ZR2 also got a very needed update. For the longest time, the interior of most Chevrolets has been lacking immensely. It was very boring and had gotten stale and the customers wanted something different. The 2022 Chevrolet Silverado all together is getting an interior update. New infotainment system, digital dash, and much more. The interior basically got an overhaul which it needed. Electric Silverado to have 4 Wheel Steering
There is a lot of hype surrounding all of the new electric vehicles that will be hitting the market in the next few years. Every manufacturer is scrambling to come up with all of these electric vehicles to replace the traditional gas powered vehicles. These electric vehicles are going to have an amazing amount of tech in them. The electric Chevrolet Silverado that is supposed to be revealed sometime in the near future is said to have a very interesting feature that the Ford F150 Lightning does not have. The electric Chevrolet Silverado is going to have 4- wheel steering. Now you might be wondering why a truck needs to have 4 wheel steering? Well trucks are bigger that a regular vehicle which makes them harder to maneuver in smaller spaces. With the 4 wheel steering, you will be able to maneuver the truck better in tighter areas. It also reduces the turning radius of the truck dramatically. But it important to remember, you should only be using this feature at slower speeds. It could potentially be dangerous if you use this at a higher rate of speed.
The way it works:
When you are turning and need a little extra help, you engage the 4 wheel steering and the back wheels with turn the opposite way the front wheels are turning. Thus increasing the amount you are able to turn. In the teaser video that was released, there was a small crab that was by one of the wheels. The crab has some meaning behind it though. The crab represents the truck being able to “crab walk.” What is crab walk you ask? Well it just means that the truck will be able to move in a diagonal direction. If both the front and back wheels are turned a certain angle, the truck can be facing completely straight and move in a diagonal motion. That is the crab walk. If you keep up with the electric trucks that are being introduced, you will have seen that the GMC Hummer truck will also have this feature so it wasn’t really that big of a surprise when General Motors announced it was going to have this feature. Elon Musk, the CEO if Tesla, recently said that the Tesla Cybertruck, which is delayed currently, will have a similar feature. We are not yet sure if this will be an option that you have to specifically order or if it will be a standard feature. When we get more information on the all new Electric Silverado, we will be sure to pass it along.
Could the Camaro be Going Electric?
The future of the Chevrolet Camaro is kind of up in the air at this point. There have been differing reports on what is going to happen to the Camaro. Some reports have shown that this 6th generation of the Camaro is going to be the last. But then you see some other articles that say the complete opposite. So we really do not know what the future will hold for the Chevrolet Camaro.
The latest report that has come out stated that Chevrolet may be planning to replace the Camaro with some sort of performance EV sedan. This sounds a lot like what Ford has done with the Mustang Mach- E. the only difference would be that one is an SUV and the other would be a sedan. If Chevrolet were to go with a sedan, it would be an interesting choice because there are not many sedan being produced any more. SUVs are what everyone seems to be wanting now so it would only make sense to make an electric SUV but Chevrolet must have other plans.
The current 6th gen Camaro, as of right now, is set to be phased out in 2024 but that could change. Chevrolet is also going to replacing a lot of their other vehicles around the same time. The rumor is that Chevrolet will be getting rid of the Spark, Trax, and the Malibu to make room for other electric vehicles to come. General Motors has committed a lot of money into the development of electric vehicles. They are supposed to be introducing 20 new electric vehicles by 2026. The drawbacks of most of the electric vehicles that are on the market is they are just not good looking. Tesla has done a very good job in regards to designing their vehicles. That probably has a lot to do why they sell so many vehicles. If other car manufactures would make the electric vehicles look a little bit better looking, they would sell much better. The Bolt and Bolt EUV look like every other electric car on the market apart from the Teslas. Teslas look like modern and futuristic. Hopefully the electric vehicles that are coming in the near future are much better looking than what is currently out now. We will keep you guys updated when we get more information.
