General Motors has just announced that they are planning to transition to all electric vehicles by the year 2040. Their plan is to eliminate all gas powered vehicles and replace them wit electric versions of that vehicle. General Motors has been pushing electric vehicles hard for about the last few years. They started with the Chevrolet Volt and are now onto the Chevrolet Bolt EV. Every manufacturer is now beginning to come out with more and more electric vehicles. This report that GM is starting to transition came out today, January 28, 2021.

General Motors also announced that along with making an all electric vehicle lineup, they will also strive to be carbon neutral by 2040 as well. to be carbon neutral means that all of General Motors vehicles and production plants will be emitting zero emissions. GM says that is not everything is carbon neutral by then, they will buy what is called a “Carbon Credit” to offset the plants and vehicles that are not up to that standard yet. General Motors is joining other governments and companies that are trying to reduce the strain on the environment from things such as gas powered vehicles and large production plants that emit countless amounts of pollution into the air everyday. There is going to be a lot of pushback from customers we can almost guarantee. A lot of people like their big loud V8s, and that is understandable. But in order to help preserve the planet during our time on it, we must all do our parts to keep it as clean and as safe as possible.

General Motors has already said that this transition will not result in the loss of jobs. The workers will be trained and will be doing similar jobs to what they were doing when they were working on the gas powered vehicles. In this press release, it is clear that GM is dead set of eliminating pollutions from all new LIGHT DUTY vehicles by 2035. Notice how LIGHT DUTY was in all caps. This seems to mean that they are not fully sure what they are going to be doing with the heavy duty vehicles that they currently offer. General Motors will have to come up with a way for people to tow just as much if not more with an electric heavy duty vehicle. A lot of people rely of the Silverado 2500,3500, and so many other vehicles because they have the towing capacity to tow more than the light duty vehicles.

General Motors also announced that they are planning to unveil up to 30 new electric vehicles over the next 5 years. We believe they are just going to be making some of the vehicles that are currently running on gas and making them electric vehicles. We often get the question about why manufacturers do not make their current best selling models available as an electric vehicle. We do not have an answer for that but now it seems like that could be a possibility. One of our best selling vehicles is the Chevrolet Equinox. It would do great if it were an electric vehicle. It is already a good looking vehicle and if you adding electric to it, it would make it even better. Hopefully the brands that are owned by General Motors start to come out with some better looking electric vehicles. Tesla is currently leaps and bounds ahead of every other electric vehicle on the market. They have by far the best styling when it comes to electric vehicles. Most of the electric vehicles you see on the road are borderline ugly. They just are and thats why people do not buy them. Now when you go out, you are almost guaranteed to see some version of a Tesla. And now they have started making their models more and more affordable while keeping a very good looking vehicle. Chevrolet currently has the Bolt EV and the previous generation Volt.

Every month Chevrolet throws tons of incentives at the Bolt in the hopes that it will get it going. They are starting to show some traction but the goal should be to see it without having to almost give them away. We want the people to want them for what they are and not because they have the most amount of money off. Once General Motors starts to make some affordable good looking electric vehicles, they will sell like hotcakes. These next 20 years are going to be very interesting in the automotive world. No matter how you are associated with it, it is going to change whether you like it or not.

This month at Poage Chevrolet, we are offering Employee Pricing on new Chevrolet models. December usually comes with the most aggressive incentives from General Motors to finish out the year strong. They have really stepped up this year. General Motors normally doesn’t go all out on the new model years with incentives and rebates. Not this year, there are some incredible incentives running on 2020 and 2021 model year Chevrolet vehicles. Some of the most popular models have the best rebates. Some of these rebates you might think are too good to be true. Let’s break down what kind of deals you can expect when you come to Poage Chevrolet.

POAGE OR POGUE?

May 24, 2021

Most of the people that we come in contact with do not know how to pronounce or spell our name. The correct spelling is Poage. But for most people, the way they would think to spell it would be Pogue. Any other form of Pogue is spelled that way. Most people also do not know how to pronounce it. You say it exactly the same way at Pogue. We are Poage Chevrolet not Pogue Chevrolet. There is a Poage Chevrolet in Kentucky but we are not affiliated with them in any way. Believe it or not, we have had people come in, in the past and ask if we can get a car from our other store in Kentucky. They just assume that we are the same brand. Most people do not think about the word Pogue being spelled a different way. Poage Chevrolet and Pogue Chevrolet are completely different companies in different areas of the country.

One of our employees, before they were hired, told a story about when they were coming out for their interview. Our employees said that when they were coming in for their interview, they had to look up the directions to know where they were going. They had an idea of where we were located in Wentzville but not for sure. When they typed in our business name, the spelled out Pogue Chevrolet. Not even thinking they were spelling our name wrong. They still got to our location in Wentzville even without spelling our name right. When people are searching for our business, we will show up when you search Pogue Chevrolet. That’s not a bad thing but just an interesting tidbit. The Poage family has been in the car business since 1960. Now we have five stores spread across the northern part of Missouri and into Illinois. We have Poage Chevrolet, Poage Chevy Buick, Poage Ford, Poage Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram Fiat, and Poage Auto Plaza which has GMC, Buick, and Cadillac. We have come a long way from 1960 and continue to grow every year.

Whether you spell it Poage or Pogue we really do not care. We treat all of our customers the same regardless. If you are in the market for a new dealership to work with, Poage or Pogue is always looking for new customers. Whether that be sales or service. The school year is getting close to being over, which means graduation is coming up. With graduation getting closer and closer, maybe you would like to get your graduate a car as their graduation gift. Graduation is a big accomplishment and should be rewarded for. This could be for graduating high school or college. Most likely it will be for someone who has recently graduated from high school. Recent graduates will most likely be in the age range of 17-22. That will cover both graduates from high school and college.

Chevrolet makes a variety of cars that would be perfect for a recent graduate. These graduates are still young, so it is important to not get something with too much value. You want to get them in a dependable, affordable, and safe vehicle that will last a long time. After high school, most likely they will be going off to college and the parents are going to want to get their child something that they know they won’t have to worry about while they are away from home. Less worry for the parent, the better.

We will start with the less expensive models first and work our way up.

Chevrolet Trax

The Chevrolet Trax is the replacement for the Chevrolet Cruze. With the shift in market to SUVs in recent years. Chevrolet felt in order to stay relevant in today’s market, they had to make some changes. That is why most of the major OEMs have made the decision to go to mostly SUV models. The Trax is a small SUV that comes with a great price tag. Most often, the MSRP of a new Trax is in the low $20,000s. At any given time at Poage Chevrolet, you can find one for around $16,000. That is an unbelievable price for a new car. Of course, there are many different trim levels to choose from, so obviously when you choose the higher trim level, you get more options and the price will increase. The Trax gets a combined 28 mpg. This would be a great car to give your recent graduate. To view our inventory of Trax, click here.

Chevrolet Malibu

The Chevy Malibu is a reasonable priced sedan that would be a great option to a recent graduate. This car has everything you could need. The Malibu gets a combined 32 mpg. If you are traveling back and forth from college, that will be a big helper in saving money on gas. The Malibu is safe and dependable and will be able to get you wherever you will need to go. To view our inventory of Malibus, click here.

Chevrolet Trailblazer

The all new 2021 Chevy Trailblazer is a step above the Trax. The new Trailblazer has a completely redesigned body which is much smaller than the previous Trailblazer. The Trailblazer is now a small and sporty SUV. It has a starting price of around $19,000. It is available in trim levels L, LS, LT, ACTIV, and RS. L is the cheapest trim level and RS is the most expensive but it is also has the most to offer in terms of options. The RS has a starting price of around $25,000. For a small sporty SUV, that’s not too bad. The Trailblazer also offers an AWD option. This is a great car for someone who has recently graduated and needs a vehicle. We currently do not have any Trailblazers in stock but they are on the way! When we get them back in stock, you will be the first to know!

Chevrolet Equinox

The Chevrolet Equinox is one of the most popular SUVs on the road today. Everywhere you look there is an Equinox. That right there proves it is a great option for a vehicle. They are relatively inexpensive for what you get. There are multiple different trim levels available to choose from. Chevrolet recently started putting black wheels on certain trim levels and it looks great. It would be perfect for someone that wants a sport looking SUV but doesn’t want the price tag that usually comes along with one. The price tag for an Equinox can range from the low $20,000 to the low $30,000. This SUV is one step above the Trax in terms of size and space. If you feel the Trax is too small, the Equinox is the vehicle for you. To view our Equinox inventory, click here.

Poage Chevrolet has a wide variety of new and used vehicles to choose from. We try to be involved with the community in any way possible. We have been serving Wentzville and the surrounding areas since 1960 and plan to be around for many more years.

This month’s vehicle spotlight is the all new redesigned Chevrolet Blazer. Chevrolet made a big splash in the SUV market when they came back out with the Blazer. Chevrolet already has a great lineup of SUVs and they just added to it with the Blazer. The automobile market has made a pretty drastic shift to SUVs in the past few years. Most of the car manufacturers have made the essential move in their vehicle lineups to cater to the needs and wants of the public. Chevrolet did exactly that. They have stopped making the Cruz and the Impala and have replaced them with other SUV models.

The Chevrolet Blazer is most sporty SUV option from Chevrolet. The Blazer is almost as if Chevrolet made and SUV version of the Camaro. Here are some general specs on the new Blazer.

Specs

– 19/26 MPG

– 64.2 Cu. Ft. of cargo space

– Seats up to 5

– Maximum of 4,500 tow capacity

The Blazer has a few different engines that you can choose from. The Ecotec 2.5L, the 2.0L Turbo, and the 3.6L V6 engine. Depending on what you are looking for, will determine which engine would best suit you. They all offer good gas mileage for SUVs. But if that is your main concern, the Ecotec will be the best engine for you. If you are looking for something a little faster and with a little more pep, get the 3.6L V6 engine. That engine puts out a little over 300 horsepower. There are also many different trim levels to choose from. You will definitely be able to find the right combination for you.

The Blazer has a starting MSRP of $28,800 for the L trim level and will go up from there. After the L, there is a 1LT, 2LT, 3LT, RS, and Premier. Any of the models that have the LT in the trim level are relatively similar. They just have different options available in terms of interior and things. When you get to the RS and Premier that’s when the exterior of the car begins to show the changes. The RS model is where you can see the main differences in the different trim levels. The RS model is available with black exterior accents, black Chevy bowtie, and grille. You can also get it with a choice of 20’ or 21’ custom wheels not available on any of the other models. If you are looking for a great looking SUV that gets good gas mileage, then this is the car for you. The Premier trim level is very similar to the RS but you do not get the black accents around the car. The wheels are also not black either. The Premier is the most luxurious version of the Blazer that is available. You will get premium leather interior with unique stitching. This model of course comes with a higher price tag, but you are paying for the higher quality of materials that were used in and out of the car.

If you would like more information on any of our Chevrolet Blazers, click here to view the Blazer inventory. Or give us a call at 636-327-6268 and one of our sales consultants will be able to answer any of the questions you might have about our cars!

Spring is here and that means it is time for spring cleaning! Usually when you hear spring cleaning, you think of cleaning your house or wherever you live. While cleaning your house is great in all, we are advising to do a spring cleaning for your car. People spend a lot of time in their cars, so why not make it a better experience and have a clean car. Most people feel better when their vehicle is clean. It is just a good feeling to be clean.

Remove floor mats from vehicle

Use some sort of brush to get deep into the fibers of the floor mats to release all of the dirt that has gathered up over the course of the winter. Once the surface dirt has been removed, move on to cleaning the floor mats. Use soap and warm water to get a deep clean of the floor mats. Let the floor mats dry before placing them back in the vehicle.

Vacuum out the entire interior of the car

Make sure to get under the seats and in the cracks of each seat in the car. That is where most of the dirt and buildup will be found. Especially in the cracks between the driver’s seat and the center console. Usually when you drop something down there, it is like a black hole and that item never comes back. Now it is time to see what is actually down there.

Wipe down all surfaces inside the car

Use automotive wipes to wipe down the interior of your car. Wipe down every surface that you see fit. The dashboard, steering wheel, center console, door handles, gear shifter, anything you want to clean. This will get rid of all of the dust and dirt on the surfaces of the interior of the car.

Clean the exterior of the car

Gently wash the exterior of the car. Make sure to not push too hard when cleaning the exterior. You do not want to mess up the paint of your car. Use car washing liquid rather than just regular dish soap to ensure you get a better clean. Car cleansing liquid give the car a better wash that regular dish soap.

Dry the car with a microfiber cloth

Depending on the way you want to dry your car, you may want to slightly dry it off before letting it air dry. If you are choosing to let it air dry, slightly dry off the car to get off any excess water. The excess water could contain some dirt or mineral that when dry could make your car look dirty again. For example, when it rains, some people see that as a free car wash. But after your car dries off, it looks dirty with water spots. Dry the car enough to where there are no water spots.

Wax if you feel necessary

If you want to wax your car, you can but it is not necessary. It is recommended that you should not wax your car more than once every three months. So, after the long winter, your car could be in need of a good coat of wax.

If you have any questions about washing your car or cleaning tips for your car, give a call. We would be happy to assist you in anything you need.

BUYING VS LEASING

May 24, 2021

Buying a vehicle can be a stressful event. There is a lot going on and you just want to make sure you are making the best decision. If something goes wrong, it could end up costing you a lot of money. Hopefully this will give you some guidance on the path you would like to take in getting a new car.

When in the market for a new vehicle, you have to ask yourself if you are going to buy the car or lease the car. There are pros and cons to both options. Below you will see a breakdown of the pros and cons for each option.

Leasing

Pros

You will usually have much lower payments than you would financing the car

The down payment will be a lot less or there may not be a down-payment at all

You get the freedom to switch vehicles every two or three years depending on the lease

You do not have to worry about finding a buyer for your car when the lease is up

No trade in hassles with the dealership

Just get a new lease and turn the old leased car in. Simple

Sales taxes are less on a leased vehicle

Cons

When the lease is up, you have no ownership of the car

-You must turn the car back in to where you got it from

-You are limited by the amount of miles you can drive

-Typical lease is around 12,000 miles per year

-1,000 miles per month

-The leasing contract may be very confusing for people who don’t understand leasing terminology

-If you were to keep the same car for years, you would actually end up paying more over time than you would if you were to just buy the car

-If you want to terminate the lease in the middle of the contract, you will be charged a hefty termination fee.

-You cannot make any changes to the car

Buying/ Financing

Pros

If you buy a car, you can do whatever you want with the car. You can customize it to your liking

It is cheaper in the long run to buy the car

The vehicle is yours

There are no limits as to how much you can drive the vehicle

You have the option to trade in the vehicle when you are looking to purchase your next vehicle

You could sell the vehicle whenever you want. You do not have any agreement holding you to that vehicle for a specific period of time

Cons

-You will have a down payment and if could be a lot depending on the car you are looking at

-If you are financing the car, the monthly payments will be more expensive than a lease monthly payment

-The dealership where you got the car from is not responsible for repairs and maintenance. You are.

-The value of a car when you drive off the lot, goes down substantially. It is called depreciation

-When you are ready to get your next car, you can trade this one in. The trade in process can be a hassle and some people do not want to add more hassle to an already stressful process.

If you are in the market for a new car, come by and see us. We would be happy to go over all of the options available to you. We can explain what would be better for you individually. C8 CORVETTE Z06 RUMOR

Recently, an image of the interior of a new 2020 Corvette has been found. This image was found by the people at RoadShow. They found what is presumed to be an image of the interior of a Z06 version of the new Corvette. This is very exciting news on many fronts. The production is running a little behind because of the GM strike that has recently been resolved. Now that everyone is back to work, cars are going to get built. When they were on strike, nothing was happening. We need the workers to build the cars. If there are no workers, there are no cars. Everyone knew that eventually they would go back to work. Now that is has happened. It is all good news from here.

When Chevrolet released the design of the new Corvette, it took the world by storm. Who would ever think that an American car would have a mid- engine design. Not me, that’s for sure. When people think of american cars, they usually think of a car that is not built very well. Probably uses a lot of cheaper plastics and just overall isn’t that great of a car. In recent years, all of those preconceived notions can be thrown out of the window. What American car companies are doing is giving you great value for money. Our cars may not be made with the top quality fabrics or leathers, but it will still be nice. Where else can you find a mid- engine car with almost 500 hp for $60,000. The answer is you probably cannot find it anywhere else.

So now that an image has been leaked that is in association with the Z06 model. It is very exciting. Everyone knew that they would come out with different editions to the new Corvette, it was only a matter of time. There is no way that Chevrolet would have only one version of the Corvette. They have always come out with different packages offering different things in each. They almost always offer a model that has a more powerful engine. The last iteration of the C7 was the ZR1 which had 755 hp. That is a lot for a car coming straight out of the factory. The standard C8 Corvette is currently sitting at 485 hp. They have a ton of room to grow.

With these images of the interior of the supposed Z06, we my not be that far away from getting the Z06. Most people, when buying a car like this, are more likely to spend a little more money to get exactly what they want. They would rather spend the extra money upfront rather than have to go through the process of doing it aftermarket. If it comes from the factory, there is a better chance that it will work a lot better than something that has been put on the car after the purchase. Also, your warranty you get from the dealership may get voided if you make upgrades that are not under the warranty. If it came on the car from the factory, it will be covered under the warranty.

The image that was leaked shows a different interior than the regular Corvette. It has a different steering wheel, stitching, and color scheme. Nothing has been confirmed and it most likely will not get confirmed until Chevrolet decides to announce the car. They may not even have plans for this car, it is all speculation at this point. It could be a design from the past that has just now surfaced. They could be going in a completely different direction.

If you would like to learn more about the new Corvette and all of the different options you can choose from. Feel free to call and set up and appointment to build out your new C8 Corvette. Out number is 636-327-6268. Go online to poagechevrolet.com to see all of the Corvettes we have in stock. We do not have any C8s yet but, we have some really good looking C7 Corvettes. We look forward to hearing from you!

The Silverado is such a versatile vehicle that it has the ability to function in so many different life settings. If you are someone who does manual labor for your work and you need to be able to haul all of your tools and whatever you use on a daily basis, a truck will be the most practical choice. Even if you sit behind a desk and a computer all day, you can have a truck too. You may just like the way it looks. It does not matter. Anyone can drive a truck and look great in it. Not everyone that has a truck will use it for exactly what is was designed for. Some people are just drawn to a truck rather than a regular car. There are so many different trim levels of the Silverado that you will definitely be able to find something that suits you. Some of the top of the line trucks are more of a luxury vehicle rather than a truck. But at the same time, it can still be used as a truck. No matter what you do or how you plan to use your Silverado, it will be able to handle it.

The all- new Silverado has a starting price of $28,300. The Silverado get 15 miles per gallon in the city and gets 20 miles per gallon on the highway. The bed of the Silverado is 62.9 cubic feet.
