Most of the people that we come in contact with do not know how to pronounce or spell our name. The correct spelling is Poage. But for most people, the way they would think to spell it would be Pogue. Any other form of Pogue is spelled that way. Most people also do not know how to pronounce it. You say it exactly the same way at Pogue. We are Poage Chevrolet not Pogue Chevrolet. There is a Poage Chevrolet in Kentucky but we are not affiliated with them in any way. Believe it or not, we have had people come in, in the past and ask if we can get a car from our other store in Kentucky. They just assume that we are the same brand. Most people do not think about the word Pogue being spelled a different way. Poage Chevrolet and Pogue Chevrolet are completely different companies in different areas of the country.
One of our employees, before they were hired, told a story about when they were coming out for their interview. Our employees said that when they were coming in for their interview, they had to look up the directions to know where they were going. They had an idea of where we were located in Wentzville but not for sure. When they typed in our business name, the spelled out Pogue Chevrolet. Not even thinking they were spelling our name wrong. They still got to our location in Wentzville even without spelling our name right. When people are searching for our business, we will show up when you search Pogue Chevrolet. That’s not a bad thing but just an interesting tidbit. The Poage family has been in the car business since 1960. Now we have five stores spread across the northern part of Missouri and into Illinois. We have Poage Chevrolet, Poage Chevy Buick, Poage Ford, Poage Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram Fiat, and Poage Auto Plaza which has GMC, Buick, and Cadillac. We have come a long way from 1960 and continue to grow every year.
